Having an in-house Security Operations Center (SOC) provides the organization with real-time threat monitoring, rapid incident response, and greater control over cybersecurity defenses. This proactive approach enhances data protection, reduces risks associated with cyber threats, and ensures compliance with security regulations. However, maintaining vigilance is crucial, as cyber threats continuously evolve, requiring constant monitoring and adaptation to new risks. Now, I will discuss key aspects of establishing a SOC in a higher education setting, including space selection and planning, as well as securing funding to support its development.
